The Sampson Story

Leaving from Starbucks yesterday I noticed a dog's head poking out of the roundabout median, not paying much attention I quickly scanned for a human somewhere because I thought this was so dangerous for the pup to be on his own. I pulled over after not seeing anyone and happy with the light traffic I went and checked out the dog (Basset Hound) to make sure he was okay. He wasn't walking but he was wagging his tail and looked happy to see a human possibly coming to his rescue. I grabbed him and put him in our car and called Jake to get the local animal shelter phone number.

After a quick phone call and a visit with their vet they found out that he was given a microchipped and actually had an owners. They called the owners to let them out that someone had found their dog and it turned out that the owners no longer wanted this dog, named Oscar. They said that he was their's sons dog and that he was in jail and they didn't want the responsibility of a puppy. The vet also said that Oscar had been kept in a kennel that was too small for a growing Basset Hound and because of this has legs that didn't get to grow to their full height and have actually grown into themselves. He has knobs on all four legs. He can walk just find but has serious trouble with climbing stairs and can not jump on furniture or beds. The now former owners offered to neuter him at their cost and pay the adoption fees if we agree to adopt him, I believe this was to avoid or reduce a ticket.

So Jake and I talked about it and we agreed to tell them that we would adopt him, now before I get a bunch of messages saying 3 dogs are insane and how we haven't been the best dog owners since our kids were born there are some things we are considering. 1. Keep him. or 2. Find him a home after he is neutered. He fits in here very well but the fact that he is 6 months old, abused, timid, and another dog we are not sure he is here to stay. So the best that I can say is, he's here for now. Monday is the first vet appt for a check up and rabies shot, then we schedule his operation. Hope you all enjoy the pictures, by the way, Bella called him Sammy before we knew his name and Jake thought that Sampson was a better fit. I call him dopey, he's just the clumsiest, goofiest, saggy dog I have every seen. Also one of the sweetest.

PS. Pongo loves him, he thinks Sampson is the best thing on the planet and a ton of fun. Maggie....well....she wants him dead. :)

Bronco Game

Jake and I got to attend the Broncos Vs Raiders game today and we had a great time. My camera had a dead battery so I had to post pictures from the internet. We had really great club level seats and an awesome view of an insane game. It was a blast!

Riposa In Pace

Monday, September 03, 2007

We took a spur-of-the-moment mini vacation this weekend to escape the heat and see a bit of the high country. This our tale in pictures!

Pick a hotel online and pray it's a good one. (it was!)

Take off your shorts and stay awhile. Play with the safe!

Hide from the safe!

Search Google Maps to find out where the heck we are going to eat!

Smile and the huge tub that you have always wanted!

Help Daddy!

Keep hiding!

View from our hotel...68 degrees outside at 5pm-Heaven!

Get ready for dinner.

Show off a bit

Have dinner at the best "pub" in Silverthorne

Eat ice cream for dessert. (Cheaply bought by Mommy at King Soopers)

Who says we needed that expensive stuff anyway!

Now share Daddy's ice cream!
Wake up the next morning and laugh at how little sleep Daddy got!

Smile knowing Mommy got no sleep too!

Plan your future summer home location.

Take one last picture of the hotel!

Then another!

Smile at your first overnight trip to the mountains!
