Isabella's Ladybug Birthday Party

We had Isabella's 2nd Birthday party today and I think she had a great time. We had it at our rec center's park and they had a little playground and basketball courts and and a nice covered picnic area. She got so many amazing gifts, our friends and family are very generous. A great big thank you to everyone who made it up on this super hot Sunday for her party!

Elephants Memory- A Touching Story

Elephants memory - touching story
In 1986, Mkele Mbembe was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from college. On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air.The elephant seemed distressed so Mbembe approached it verycarefully. He got down on one knee and inspected the elephant's foot, and found a large thorn deeply embedded in it.As carefully and as gently as he could, Mbembe worked the thorn out with his hunting knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot. The elephant turned to face the man and with a rather stern look on its face, stared at him. For several tense moments Mbembe stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled. Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned and walked away.
Mbembe never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.
Twenty years later he was walking through a zoo with his teenaged son. As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to near where Mbembe and his son Tapu were standing. The large bull elephant stared at Mbembe and lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down. The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all thewhile staring at the man.
Remembering the encounter in 1986, Mbembe couldn't help wondering if this was the same elephant. Mbembe summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing and made his way into the enclosure. He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder.Suddenly the elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of the man's legs and swung him wildly back and forth along the railing, killing him.
Probably wasn't the same elephant.

Little Rattle, Big Step

Giuliana is starting to use her hands to grab and bring things to her mouth. She is such a big girl, today she is 4 months old, I swear we just brought her home yesterday. I hope my pregnant friends can see just how fast kids grow, next week Isabella turns 2. I feel like we were just watching her try to use her hands for the first time. I feel so much emotion watching them grow so fast right now that when they are teenagers I might need to be committed. HA!

Coffee Cake

Every Monday Isabella, Giuliana and I go to the new drive thru Starbucks and grab a large coffee and a piece of Crumble Coffee Cake for Bella. I don't know why but this Monday she decided to show how crumbly the coffee cake could get. All over my kitchen!!!! Notice the plate is completely empty. ha!

Trip To Colorado Springs Day 2

Kirsten and Jeff got married at the Air Force Academy and it was beautiful. They are a beautiful couple and it was great to see family that we haven't seen in 20 years.

Trip to Colorado Springs Day 1

We went to Colorado Springs this past weekend for my cousin Kirsten's wedding. Jake and I decided to take the girls down early so we could go do something fun in Springs, like Garden of the Gods or maybe even just swim at the hotel pool. We left Friday night around 7:30 and I put the girls in their PJs so they would be comfortable while they slept in the car. Once we hit Parker we decided to find something to eat, we couldn't find any fast food that sounded good so we took the kids into Red Robin in their pajamas!

We had 2 bedrooms in this hotel room, Isabella thought we would take the big bed upstairs!

Isabella and the Squirrel

Today Isabella, Giuliana and I went to the Zoo with Beth, Katy, and Alex. On our way to see the monkeys this little squirrel ran up to us and almost touched Isabella's foot. She began to feed him some crackers and he became our best friend. There are so many amazing animals at the zoo yet this is the one that Isabella spent the rest of the day talking about. She cracks me up!

A Big Sister's Job is Never Done

Today Isabella decided that she would explain how Giuliana's music toy worked. They were under there together for about 20 minutes together. Jake and I could hear Isabella telling Giuliana all of the musical instruments and the colors of the stars as they lit up. So far this big sister thing is working out really well for her and Giuli loves it too!

I Hate My Closet

Jake and I have a very big walk-in closet in our bedroom. For most people this would be awesome, for me it's a nightmare. It's so big that I just put anything and everything in it. Well after a year of hating this closet I decided we couldn't live like this anymore. 4 hours later we had the closet of our dreams again! I only hope I learned my lesson.
